There are considered the findings of long-term investigations on studying the effect of minimizing basic soil cultivation on the water regime, mineral N content, infestation of grain agrocenoses, and on the agrocenosis performance in grain-fallow crop rotation under different levels of agricultural intensification.

The outcomes of work of Breeding Centre of Siberian Research Institute of Fodder Crops for 40-year period are presented; the characteristics of the best varieties developed at the institute are given. There is indicated the further activity of the centre on developing fodder crops adapted to the conditions of Siberia using the modern breeding-genetic and biotechnological methods.

COMPARATIVE CHARACTERISTIC OF PERENNIAL LEGUME GRASSES AT DIRECT DRILLING INTO A DEGRADED MEADOW IN WESTERN SIBERIA
There was revealed the effect of perennial legume grasses, directly drilled into a natural degraded meadow, on increasing its production performance and on quality of feeds for animal husbandry. The most promising drilling variants have been determined.

EFFECT OF PERIOD OF MOWING DOWN ALFALFA AND EASTERN GALEGA AFTERGRASS ON THEIR PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE
A possibility to use alfalfa and eastern galega aftergrass in the raw conveyor during autumn season has been shown. The period of the aftergrass use and the optimal time of alfalfa mowing down have been determined.

MORPHOLOGICAL VARIATION IN FLOWERS AND FRUITS OF EUROPEAN BIRD CHERRY IN RIGHT-BANK FOREST-STEPPE AREAS NEAR THE RIVER OB
The variation in some characters of flowers, blossom clusters and fruits of European bird cherry was studied in natural habitats in right-bank forest-steppe areas near the River Ob. The variation limits, average values and variation coefficients for quantitative characters as well as the quality groups and frequency of occurrence for qualitative characters were determined. The promising forms were selected as to characters of flowers, blossom clusters and fruits to be used in breeding and landscape gardening.

INHERITANCE OF RESISTANCE TO WHITE RUST IN HYBRID PROGENY OF CHRYSANTHEMUM
The analysis of inheritance of resistance to white rust in hybrid progeny of Chrysanthemum has been carried out. Monogenic dominant control of the resistance trait has been shown. Sources and donors of genes controlling resistance to the pathogen have been singled out.

EFFECT OF POTASSIUM IODIDE IMPLANTATION AND OF DIFFERENT PERIODS OF BULLS’ BIRTH ON NUTRIENT DIGESTIBILITY
There are given the findings of investigations on determining the effect of potassium iodide implantation as well as of a season of bulls’ birth on nutrient digestibility. It has been established that the spring-born implanted bulls have higher nutrient digestibility coefficients and better indices of the live weight gain.

EFFECT OF MYCOTOXINS ON POSTVACCINAL IMMUNITY CHARACTERISTICS IN COWS AND ON COLOSTRAL IMMUNITY IN CALVES
There are given the findings of investigations on studying the effect of feeds contaminated with toxic mold fungi on generating vaccine-induced antibodies in cows and on indices of the colostral immunity in calves. It has been found that the postvaccinal immunity in cows reduces, and the endogenic intoxication develops that leads to birth of calves with signs of hypotrophy and immunodeficiency.

IN VITRO STUDY OF SALT TOLERANCE IN AMARANTH
