DYNAMICS OF NITROUS OXIDE GENERATION AND EMISSION IN HIGH-MOOR PEAT SOILS
There are considered the results of studying the dynamics of nitrous oxide generation and emission in oligotrophic peat soils in the northeastern area of the Vasyuganskoye Bog during vegetation periods of the two-year research. The nitrous oxide content has been revealed to depend on the activity of biochemical and microbiological processes in soil as well as on the weather conditions of a vegetation period.

INFLUENCE OF SEEDING RATES AND SOWING TIMES ON CHANGE OF MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERS OF THE STALK AND ON RESISTANCE TO LODGING IN DURUM WHEAT VARIETIES
There was studied the forming of morphological characters of the stalk in summer durum wheat varieties depending on seeding rates and sowing times. There was revealed the variety specificity of resistance to lodging caused by various contributions of morphological characters. It is shown that the reduction in seeding rates does not always result in greater resistance of durum wheat to lodging, and later sowing times unequivocally lead to lodging.

SELECTION OF BUCKWHEAT DONOR CULTIVARS FOR BREEDING
There are given the results of studying the basic breeding-economic characters and the mechanisms of their development in the most effective buckwheat donor cultivars. There have been revealed the crossing combinations showing the positive overdominance as to most phenotypic traits. There have been singled out the donor cultivars being the sources of high productivity that are recommended to be involved in the breeding process.

EFFECT OF ROW SPACING AND SEEDING RATES OF ALFALFA ON ITS SEED YIELD
There are given the results of research into developing a technology for growing Omskaya 8893 cultivar of alfalfa for seeds in the forest-steppe zone of Western Siberia. The effect of seeding methods and rates on the regimes of illuminance and gas exchange in alfalfa stand has been studied. The technology providing the maximal yield of alfalfa seeds has been determined. It has been established that yield losses during harvesting alfalfa seed plants increase as row spacing does.

SEED PRODUCTIVITY OF HUNGARIAN SAINFOIN IN FOREST STEPPE OF ALTAI TERRITORY
There were developed the effective techniques for growing Hungarian sainfoin on leached chernozem soils of Altaian forest steppe that increase the seed productivity of this crop. The effect of various fertilizer doses, seeding methods and rates on the seed productivity of Hungarian sainfoin was studied. It is shown that the use of honey bees as pollinators is an effective way to obtain an increase in the productivity.

PROSPECTS FOR THE USE OF AGAMOSPERMIC SEEDLINGS IN GARDEN STRAWBERR BREEDING
The prospects for using agamospermic seedlings of Purpurovaya cultivar of garden strawberry with the improved pollen quality were estimated to be used in hybridization. The hybrid progeny was selected by the traits significant for breeding. There was revealed the increase in the number of seedlings possessing higher self-fertility as compared with the mother variety. The use of agamospermic seedlings in breeding was shown to be effective.

THE RESULTS OF INTRODUCTION OF DECORATIVE WILD SPECIES IN FOREST STEPPE OF WESTERN SIBERIA
The results of introduction of 162 perennial wild species possessing higher ornamental qualities have been discussed. Based on the complex estimation, 157 species have been singled out which are capable of being sustained as cultivated plants and recognized as promising decorative plants for gardening and breeding in the forest-steppe zone of Western Siberia. Among them, most species are capable to self-sustention in culture by seed and vegetative propagation.

SPREAD OF PORCINE ENDOGENOUS RETROVIRUSES IN VARIOUS FORMS OF SUS SCROFA L. 1758 (SUIDAE, MAMMALIA)
There is given the estimate of differences between wild boar subspecies and the domestic pig as to the occurrence of porcine endogenous retrovirus (PERV) carrier hosts and the frequency of PERV-positive chromosomes estimated by the modified equations of population genetics. The PERV efficiency in analyzing differences between intraspecific forms of the domestic pig has been shown. The considerable differences between the gene pools of wild boar subspecies and of the domestic pig have been revealed.

ACTION OF PESTICIDES ON PROTEIN BIOSYNTHESIS, STATE OF LYSOSOMAL MEMBRANES AND EFFECTIVENESS OF ANIMALS’ IMMUNIZATION
The features of pathogenetic mechanisms of intoxication and immunodeficiency states in the organism of mature rats during the introduction of pesticides have been studied. There has been revealed the relationship between protein biosynthesis, state of lysosomal membranes and immunological response in animals as affected by Trichlorfon and dimethylammonium salt of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid. It has been established that pesticides impede the activation of protein biosynthesis in answer to introducing antigens, disturb the stability of lysosomal membranes, and inhibit the activity of acid phosphatases.

FEATURES OF FORMING THE INITIAL BREEDING STOCK OF BELOVSKY CARP
Organizing the breeding work in Siberian commercial fish farming has been described by way of example of a warmwater fish rearing farm. There are presented the features of developing the initial breeding stock of Belovsky carp by revealing the best fish progenitors and by selecting males and females as to morphological, reproductive and genetic parameters. The weak positive correlations between morphological and reproductive parameters of males and females have been established that has resulted in stage selection of the best individuals as to plastic traits and breeding power.

ANDROLOGICAL DISEASES OF SERVICING BULLS IN TRANSBAIKAL REGION
There is given a brief characteristic of reproductive diseases in servicing bulls. The spread and clinical presentation of andrological pathologies in servicing bulls in the areas of Transbaikal region have been studied. There are given the results of andrological prophylactic medical examination that includes the clinical trial of the externalia, rectal investigation, taking of swabs from the preputial cavity for bacteriological and mycological examinations. The forms of manifestation and the nature of diseases have been described.

EFFECTIVENESS OF APPLICATION OF «BORISPHEN ENERGY» COMPLEX AT BRONCHOPNEUMONIA IN CALVES
There are given the results of studying the effect of complex preparation «Borisphen Energy» on the organism of calves with the clinical signs of bronchopneumonia. There were investigated the morphological and biochemical blood values and the leukograms of the control animals as compared with the experimental ones who took «Borisphen Energy» complex. It has been established that the calves of the experimental group are distinguished by reduced term of treatment, activated metabolism, and increased average daily gain.

SUBSTANTIATING DESIGN-AND-PROCESS PARAMETERS OF MACHINE FOR STRIP-BROADCAST SOWING OF GRASS SEEDS
There is presented the technique and the results of experimental studies on determining design-and-process parameters of tools of a pilot machine for strip-broadcast sowing of grass seeds
when improving degraded and low-productive hay lands. There have been determined the optimal parameters of tools of the machine in strip-broadcast sowing that is height of subsoil knife, angle of opening of wings in subsoiling blade. The operating speed of the machine has been estimated.

RESULTS OF IMPROVING THE DESIGN OF DEVICE FOR MAKING LIQUID FERTILIZERS
There are considered the problems in improving a technology and device for making mineral fertilizer-water mixtures to be used in greenhouse farming. The factors affecting a value of supplied power for the mixing process have been determined. The optimal parameters of the device from the point of view of necessary power have been experimentally found that allows reducing expenditures of energy and time under required quality of the mixture.

ON NEW APPROACHES TO STUDYING PROPERTIES OF LAND RENT
There have been studied the new approaches, allowing formalization of the land rent concept. The suggestions on studying a price for foodstuffs depending on land use intensity have been substantiated and presented. As a basic characteristic of a land plot, there is considered its production function b() — quantity of a product that can be produced under an investment level . The mathematical-economical models have been built to investigate interrelations between investment levels, rent and commodity price both in planning of demand and under conditions of competition.

MODERN ASSORTMENT OF SPRING DURUM WHEAT FOR MAKARONI INDUSTRY
54 spring durum wheat varieties from breeding establishments of Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Germany were analyzed for such grain and flour quality parameters as total vitreousness, protein content, gluten strength, and groats color. It has been shown that under conditions of the south of Western Siberia, the durum wheat varieties form the grain of the first and second grade provided the recommended growing technology is observed. There have been singled out the wheat genotypes most valuable as to grain and flour quality to be used in the macaroni industry.

OUTCOMES AND PROBLEMS OF BREEDING AND SEED PRODUCTION OF VEGETABLE CROPS IN SIBERIA
The outcomes of work on breeding vegetable crops in Siberia are generalized. There are described in detail the varieties developed at Siberian Research Institute of Plant Growing and Breeding of Rosselkhozacademia, West Siberian Vegetable Experiment Station, Central Botanical Garden of Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences as well as at several commercial private companies. The ways to expand and stabilize the breeding work have been determined that provides developing Siberian varieties and their seed production. It is suggested to establish a large-scale research institution on vegetable growing in Siberia. The lines of its activities have been characterized.

EFFECT OF MODERN HERBICIDES ON YIELD AND QUALITY OF POTATO
There are given the results of studying an action of such herbicides as Hunter, Lazurite, Stomp, to weed flora under conditions of leached chernozem soils of areas near the Ob River in Novosibirsk region. The maximal weed death term after herbicide application has been revealed. It has been established that the application of the herbicides has a positive effect on the yielding capacity of potato and marketability of tubers as compared with the controls without applying these herbicides. The herbicides Hunter and Stomp are shown to possess the best effectiveness.

EFFECT OF EXTRACT FROM PINE BUDS AND NEEDLES ON THE ANIMALS’ ORGANISM AT EXPERIMENTAL LEAD TOXICOSIS
There was studied the detoxication power of extracts from pine buds and needles with respect to lead in the experiment on laboratory rats. The background lead concentration in the cardiac muscle, liver, kidney, spleen, muscular and bone tissues of the animals has been estimated. It has been established that vegetable extracts considerably reduce the lead concentration in the organs and tissues of the laboratory animals subjected to intoxication as compared with the control ones having not taken extracts.

PROTECTION OF PIGS AGAINST ECTOPARASITES AT PIG BREEDING COMPLEXES IN SIBERIA
An opportunity to apply a new preparation, fenmet, for integrated protection of pigs against ectoparasites at pig breeding complexes in Siberia has been considered. A brief description of the preparation is given. The results of farm tests on its application are presented. There has been revealed a high insecticidal and miticidal activity of the preparation in treating sarcoptosis of pigs and in limiting the number of zoophilous flies in pig breeding rooms. The optimal concentrations of the preparation have been determined to apply at pig breeding complexes.

STAGES OF FORMATION AND THE RESULTS OF ACTIVITIES OF SIBERIAN RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS FOR 55 YEARS
The basic stages of establishment and formation of the Institute, the only institution of the agrarian-economic profile in the territory of Siberia, have been considered. The structure of the Institute, its scientific potential, and the processes of personnel training has been described. There are presented the main results of the research team’s activities on developing agricultural economic issues connected with reorganization of agrarian enterprises as well as with solving other questions on strengthening of agricultural economics and increasing the effectiveness of agricultural production.
