FROM THE HISTORY OF DEVELOPMENT OF AGRARIAN SCIENCE IN SIBERIA
(towards the 40th anniversary of Siberian Regional Branch of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences)
There are given the data from the history of development of agrarian science in Siberia. The first investigations carried out in experimental fields, at farms and experiment stations in the beginning of the 20th century are mentioned. The ways to re-organize agricultural science at the Siberian Branch of VASKHNIL (Rosselkhozacademia) are shown. The stages of research development and introduction of scientific developments are considered up to 2009.

FEATURES OF FORMING ANNUAL GRAIN-LEGUME CENOSES UNDER CONDITIONS OF FOREST STEPPE IN WESTERN SIBERIA
There was studied the effectiveness of joint and mixed sowing annual cereals (Sudan grass, millet) with grain legumes (broad beans, green pea, common vetch). Their role in increasing quality of raw stuff and prepared feeds has been revealed.

BASIC ELEMENTS OF TECHNOLOGY FOR GROWING SPRING RAPE BRED AT SIBERIAN RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF FODDER CROPS FOR CONDITIONS OF FOREST-STEPPE ZONE IN WESTERN SIBERIA
The optimal terms and methods for sowing the SibNIIK 198 and SibNIIK 21 varieties of spring rape have been established. The best forecrops for the SibNIIK 198 variety, while sowing for seeds, have been revealed.

THE EFFECT OF A VARIETY GENOTYPE ON THE POPULATION STRUCTURE OF PUCCINIA RECONDITA, THE CAUSAL AGENT OF BROWN RUST IN WHEAT
The questions of occurring complementary virulence genes to wheat stability genes in the population Puccinia recondita have been considered under the long-term use of one of the immunity donors in breeding for brown rust resistance. The new sources of stability to the local pathogen population have been revealed.

STUDYING THE BIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF INFLUENZA A VIRUS SUBTYPE H5N1 ISOLATED IN RUSSIA
There are set out the findings of investigations on studying the circulation of the influenza A virus subtype H5N1 in the territory of Russia among wild birds and poultry in 2005-2009. It is shown that the strains of various genetic lines circulate in the territory of Russia. It has been established that all the strains studied are highly pathogenic for chickens.

USE OF MOLECULAR BIOLOGICAL METHODS IN DIAGNOSTICS OF VIRUS DISEASES IN CATTLE
The methods of molecular biology used in veterinary medicine to diagnose economically significant virus diseases in cattle are summarized. The results of long-term researches at the Biotechnology Laboratory being a diagnosis centre on developing test systems based on these methods and on evaluating their effectiveness are given.
