EFFECTIVENESS OF LIMINGOF ACID SOILS IN SIBERIA

There are set out the results of field and pot experiments on studying the effectiveness of chemical reclamation of acid soils in Siberia. The action of lime improvers depending on a nature of soil acidity, acid resistance of regular crops and their response to liming have been established. The role of mineral fertilizers in chemical reclamation has been determined.

There is considered the effect of new and rare-spread perennial plants such as oriental galega, oriental bunias, polygonum divaricatum, and Hungarian sainfoin on processes of fresh organic matter accumulation and structure formation of light-gray forest soils as compared with conventional plants – alfalfa and red clover.

There was revealed the effect of methods of basic soil treatment and measures on crops management with applying soil and postemergence herbicides on infestation, productive moisture content and efficiency of sunflower crops under conditions of Kulundinskaya steppe in the Altai Territory.

DEVELOPMENT OF DURUM WHEAT BREEDING STOCKRESISTANT TO FUNGOID DISEASES ON THE BASE OFTRITICUM TIMOPHEEVII ZHUK. GENE INTROGRESSION

The possibility of introgression of resistance to a number of diseases from the reproduc¬tively-isolated species . timopheevii Zhuk. into durum wheat was demonstrated. There was de¬veloped the high-producing durum wheat variety, Aleiskaya, resistant to wheat stem rust as well as a spectrum of lines being of interest of practical breeding.

ECOLOGICAL VARIABILITY OF POTATO PRODUCTIVITYIN GORNY ALTAI

There are set out the results of three-year test of 15 home-bred varieties of potato of different maturity groups at the ecological stations of Gorny Altai. It is shown that the mass of tubers from one bush varies significantly depending on genotype, weather conditions and test location. The high genetic potential of productivity has been revealed.

There are set out the results of studying comparative producing capacity and feeding power of barley in pure and mixed crops to produce grain forage under conditions of Central Yakutia. There have been revealed the most optimal sowing terms and rate of fertilizer usage for barley to obtain protein-balanced concentrated feed.

In animals of different ecogenesis reared under conditions of low environmental temperatures, there was established the polymorphism of thermoregulation type connected with the index of individual cold resistance. On the basis of evaluating this index, there were revealed the significant differences both within breeds and between them.
